I REALLY wanted to do something cool this year!!! But I ended up forgetting to plan something awesome and instead fell behind in all my school work and did poorly on a couple tests along the way...no biggie. So here are three WIP poems I've been working on this past month. I hope you like them!

1. Walking

Please

When you're walking home from school

A day of calculations and novel study behind you

Even though you're tired

And cranky

Even though you want to get home swiftly

And play your video games (but not until you finish your homework)

I ask that you walk with your brother

Don't let him get used

To staring at your back

Please ask him

"Ho was your day?"

and tell him

"I'm so proud of you."

Remind him

That you love him

Even if you don't mean it at the moment

Because you do

And he does

And it's through you that I continue to love

So walk with your brother

Side by side

Don't let him get used

To staring at your back

2. Faces

I used to see creatures in the wood

Faces in the floor tiles

Popcorn ceilings

Were undiscovered constellations

That told stories better than the stars

Dandelion fluff

Became fairy dust

With the perfect proportions of sugar and sand

My imagination was a friend

That I could never know enough about

She led me to fear and fantastical

Sat me by the riverside and told me to close my eyes and dream

Before laughing as she pushed me in.

In spite I loved her;

She brought me praise and wonder,

Taught me to trust

And lie

Playing hid

And seek

Trying to find

And keep

Her

Here with me.

But I think she always knew she'd take her leave one day

And I wish she'd stayed a littler longer

To help fix everything she'd broken,

To clean up the mess she made.

Left be with something better

Than dust that was once our dreams

And demons that were once angels.

Cause not I see faces in the wood

And all I can think is

"What did you do to deserve this?"

3. Is Poetry Enough

Is poetry enough?

Is poetry enough to calm the vibrato of your bones;

The cat scratches raking your throat?

Is poetry enough?

To seize the symphony of sorrow and madness

That practice restlessly within your head;

And sneakily

Tomorrow's whispers creep into today

Giving anyone willing to listen

A taste

Of the waste that is their life.

There's no time,

Never time.

Time enough to paint tonight's sky before the clouds ride away

Or learn to waltz the way they want you to;

Time to love the way they taught us

Or learn the way they loved us.

No, poetry is not enough to heal the brokenness inside of you.

But I hope that we do.

YEAHHH they're all WIPs. But thanks so much for reading! I really can't believe I've kept at this for so long. This blog is really fun and I'm so grateful to have a platform like this where I can just share what I write and not really worry about anything. It's a safe place for me and it makes me really happy to have this. Here's to another three years!

(^that wasn't a mistake I just need to add something later lol)
