Watercolour by a rookie mistake

Watercolour looks beautiful - if you can get it right.
I wanted to use this medium because of the kind of soft tone it gives, which was the sort of atmosphere I was aiming to convey with this comic, a look of whimsy and magic if any there be. Pastel colours and a cool blue/brown theme is the goal I was working up to (which still feels quite a ways away). But the image is seared into my mind. Above are some watercolour techniques I learned and practiced from a Youtube tutorial that gave me some beginners insight into the depths of this art form.
