The Ballad of the Stars
It was end of May or early June
When a star came, falling, falling
Crashed into the local school
The Pleiades were calling, calling
Heracles had missed his mark
Andromeda hung upside down
The sky was wailing for its light
Its precious star that hit the ground
But on the earth the star did love
For t’was a world she only gazed
From high above but here she was
Up close she looked and was amazed
The people marveled, the people stared
For the mark she left behind
Was a crater through the atmosphere
Larger than most of mankind
She shone so bright, her scarlet light
But it was quickly fading, fading
The constellations called to council
How to bring back the scarlet maiden
For without her the skies went dim
And earth simply couldn’t reciprocate
The love and passion she held within
For a world of stars no one could relate
