A word on birthdays / BLESS YOU!

You only really have one birthday, right?
So your birthday is really not a birthday but the anniversary of the day you were born.
Not your birthday at all.
Celebrating another year of life...four days ago (I KNOW I'M LATE FOR EVERYTHING EVEN MY OWN BIRTHDAY GAH.)
But you know, when did birthdays get so...depressing? Like, when we were kids we'd wake up with a smile on our face as early as we possibly could, and ran downstairs without brushing our teeth to fin our favourite breakfast sitting on the table and the family around it, talking, laughing, smiling at the surprise they threw you. You would beg to open your presents and huff when they told you to do it in the evening, complaining it was your birthday so you got to do whatever you wanted.
Was i child innocence that excused that kind of behaviour? Because to do something like that now - gosh, everyone would hope you were joking and if you weren't, wondering how one could be so self-centered and rude.
I'M JUST SAYING LIKE COME ON WHAT DOES THE WORLD WANT FROM US IT'S JUST...GAH!
Because sometimes I want to do that. Complain about the world. How unfairly it treats us. Even on a special day like a birthday, you have to force it down and realize that to someone else, today is just a regular old day and they don't care about little old you turning too old to put all the candles on so they only put on enough for the second digit of the number.
Honestly, it brought me down big time. Because though we tell ourselves it doesn't matter, though we know that that guy who yelled at you for almost going through a fire exit didn't know that it was your birthday and even if he did wouldn't care, we still want to feel special on such a day. Appreciated. Loved. Hopeful. On birthdays we want to find out who cares. We want 12 AM "hbd" texts and at least as many Facebook messages to your timeline as many friends that you have. Because you know you really don't matter in the large scheme of things. But just for today maybe...
STOP!
WAIT A MINUTE -
Whatever you might feel, don't feel that. I personally went through a lot of that four days ago and let me tell you, it was not a pleasant way to spend an evening out. Especially when you're out seeing freaking VAN GOGH AND MONET PIECES (*screams* WHATTTT???!!! I'll tell you more about it later). Because we want to feel like we matter, we forget that the truth is, no one cares. Those people you were trying to impress at the locker bay the other day? Nope, nada. They don't. But you know who does? Those people. Standing behind you. Yeah, there behind you, turn around. Who do you see? Your mum? Your pa? Sister or brother? Have they moved out? Are they still too young to comprehend this big mystifying world? OK, then how about the person you sit next to in science class? Or the buddy you can always talk about your favourite TV show with? The person you knew since fifth grade?
Making friends sure is scary, I know. There are times when the world seems far too intimidating. There are circumstances where things don't make any sense and you wonder how people can do all this harm.
But there are people that care.
There are people that will listen.
SO TELL THEM YOUR FREAKING BIRTHDAY!!! (you know, that's probably the reason no one said anything! Just saying!) (I was talking to myself there, by the way)
And I don't care if you just sneezed or not, I feel everyone deserves this:
"Bless you."
Honestly this song really inspires me. It makes my hair stand on end because there are people out there in the world, strangers I don't even know, who sang this song for the sole purpose of it reaching your ears that it might inspire you too. It made me realize that living your life the best way you possibly can - it's worth every second. So make every second worth it.
BLESS YOU AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FRIENDS!!!
Stay saltful!
